CHUB Filling- and Packaging Technology

The CHUB system is an optimal solution to fill and pack almost any kind of pumpable products like liver sausage or soft cheese but also non-food products like silicon or explosive emulsions.

Chub systems form, fill and seal pumpable products to a tubular package which is then closed by a metal clip at each end.

Highly ecologically beneficial, because the Chub package requires a minimal quantity of packaging material. Also PVDC-free films can be handled without any problem.

Undoubtedly the Chub system provides considerable cost savings on packaging material, because it does not require any expensive preformed casings and clips. Instead of that the Chub uses flat roll-stock film and wire from a roll to form the closing clips.

Basically a Chub system offers also:

  • high speeds up to 160 packs per minute
  • extremely rugged construction suitable for 3-shift operation
  • accurate product weights
  • produces package sizes from 15 g to 10 kg with a diameter from  15 to 150 mm and a package length from 50 bis 2000 mm
Chub Packaging System Process:

1. Film is fed from a roll, formed around a cylinder and sealed to a continuous tube.
2. Product is pumped through the filling pipe into the tube by means of a product-specific pump.
3. Drive wheels (3a) are feeding the filled film tube to the voider rolls (3b), where the product is voided out of the clipping area.
4. Wire is fed from a roll, cut to a pre-determined length, formed into clips and positioned for placement.
5. Closure plates gather the film tube in the clipping area together and  then a clip is installed at the lower end  of one package and another at the upper end of the next package . Now a knife cuts the film between the clips and separates the packages.
6. The lower package is now finished and leaves the machine by mean of a shute.
7. By an optional  "Easy-Open" accessory a tear stripe can be sealed to the package as an opening aid  (if PVDC or PVDC-free film is used).
